#2 Roland-Story baseball demolishes Ogden in 2A District Final, 20-4

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Saturday night, as they hosted their Class 2A, District 4 Championship game against the Ogden Bulldogs at Norsemen Field. Roland-Story entered at 35-3 and ranked #2 in Class 2A, while Ogden entered at 14-17.

Roland-Story wasted little time in getting the offense going, scoring 4 runs in the 1st on a Jake Knoll RBI fielder’s choice, an error, a passed ball and a 2nd error as the Norsemen led 4-0. Ogden would score a couple of runs in the 2nd to make it 4-2, but Roland-Story would answer by blowing the doors off the game with 7 runs in the 2nd off a Cael Faber RBI single, a Jake Knoll sac fly, a Braden Wallace 2-run RBI single, a Derek Acevedo RBI single, a bases-loaded walk and an error as the Norsemen went up 11-2. Roland-Story then took the game from domination to demolition in the 3rd with 9 runs off an error, a Jake Knoll RBI single, a Gavin Jeter RBI single, a Cooper Triggs 2-run RBI triple, an Aiden Frey 2-run home run, an error and a Jake Knoll RBI double as Roland-Story took a 20-2 lead. Ogden put up 2 runs in the 4th, but the game would end with a 20-4 victory for Roland-Story in 4 innings.

Cael Faber was the winning pitcher, going 1.2 innings and allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 2. Aiden Frey would go 2-for-2 with a 2-run home run and 3 runs scored, while Jake Knoll was 2-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI.

Roland-Story advances to the Class 2A, Substate 2 championship game against the Pocahontas Area Indians, with first pitch at 7 PM at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School on Tuesday night.
