Roland-Story softball upsets (3A) #6 PCM, 1-0

ROLAND, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Bill Hennessy Field. Roland-Story entered at 19-7, while PCM entered at 20-3 and ranked #6 in Class 3A.

Roland-Story would start the scoring in the first with a Miley Geise opposite-field solo home run to put the Norsemen ahead 1-0. That one run would be all Roland-Story needed, as Geise shutdown the Mustangs lineup, time and time again leaving multiple runners stranded as Roland-Story pulled the upset of the 6th-ranked Mustangs by a final of 1-0.

Miley Geise pitched the complete shutout, allowing no runs on 4 hits and struck out 9, while also going 2-for-3 with a home run and a double.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Jewell to take on the South Hamilton Hawks in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
