JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they hosted the West Hancock Eagles in non-conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex. South Hamilton entered at 5-17, while West Hancock entered at 4-14.
South Hamilton’s offense would prosper early, putting up 3 runs in the 1st on a Lillie Ammerman RBI single and a Jill Hesse 2-run RBI single to put the Hawks ahead 3-0. The Hawks added 2 more runs in the 2nd on an Emma Lammers RBI single and a Claire Hewitt RBI single, as a Dallace Oberender RBI ground out in the 4th put the Hawks ahead 6-0. Oberender then struck again in the 6th on an RBI double, as South Hamilton cruised to a 7-0 victory.
Emma Lammers pitched the complete game, allowing no runs on 3 hits and striking out 7 batters. Jill Hesse would go 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double, as Dallace Oberender went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI.
South Hamilton softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Monroe to take on the (3A) #7 PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action, with first pitch at 7 PM.
