EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines in non-conference action at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 12-7, as West Bend-Mallard entered at 2-11.
After a scoreless first, Eagle Grove put two on the board in the 2nd on a Salem Willard RBI double and an error as the Eagles took a 2-0 lead. Eagle Grove added a run in the 3rd on a passed ball, as West Bend-Mallard responded with a run of their own to make the score 3-1. That’s all the closer it would get as Eagle Grove plated 3 runs in the 4th on a 2 passed balls and an error, before scoring 3 runs in the 6th on an Addy Pamperin RBI double, an error and a wild pitch as Eagle Grove clinched a 9-1, 5-inning victory.
Johanna Flores-Baez picked up the win in the circle, pitching all 5 innings and allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 7. Addy Pamperin would go 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Salem Willard went 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Wednesday, as they host the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action, with first pitch at 6 PM.
