NEVADA, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the short trip east to take on the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Nevada High School. Roland-Story entered at 7-4, as Nevada entered at 8-7.
The first two innings would be scoreless on Monday, before the Cubs opened up scoring in the 3rd with 5 runs to take a 5-0 lead. Roland-Story then answered with a rally of historic proportions, scoring 15 runs in the 4th alone with a Miley Geise 2-run home run, a Klaire Krausman RBI single, an error, an Evelyn Carlson 2-run RBI double, a Cece Doyle 2-run RBI triple, a Keely Oberender RBI single, a Lauren Crabbs sac fly, a Klaire Krausman RBI double, a passed ball and a Cece Doyle 2-run RBI single as Roland-Story took a 15-5 lead. Nevada scored a run in the 4th, but couldn’t get closer as Roland-Story took a 15-6, 5-inning victory.
Miley Geise picked up the win, going 5 innings and allowing 6 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 10. Geise also went 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI, as Cece Doyle went 2-for-4 with a triple and 4 RBI.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Northwest Iowa to take on the Pocahontas Area Indians at the PAC Athletic Complex with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
