EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday evening, as they hosted the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered at 9-3, while Forest City entered at 7-3.
Eagle Grove started things with a run in the 1st, as Forest City responded with 2 runs in the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead by the middle of the 2nd. Eagle Grove tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 2nd, before taking the lead with 2 runs in the 3rd to go ahead 4-2. Forest City got a run back in the 4th, only to be answered by an Eagle Grove run in the bottom half as the Eagles led 5-3. Forest City got within a run in the 5th to make it 5-4, but Eagle Grove held the Indians at bay for the final 2 innings to grab a key 5-4 victory.
Johanna Flores-Baez was the winning pitcher, going the complete game, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and striking out 4. Salem Willard would go 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI, while Crystal Flores and Ellie Lenning each went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Harcourt to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
