Eagle Grove softball routs Central Springs in 4 innings, 16-5

MANLY, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip to far northern Iowa to take on the Central Springs Panthers in non-conference action at Central Springs High School. Eagle Grove entered at 7-3, while Central Springs entered at 5-8.

Eagle Grove would pounce on the Panthers early, putting up 7 runs in the first behind a hit-by-pitch, a bases-loaded walk, an Ellie Lenning 2-run RBI single, a Salem Willard sac fly and a Myka Anderson 2-run RBI double. Central Springs scored a run in the bottom of the frame, as the Eagles added a run in the 2nd on an Ellie Lenning RBI double, before scoring 2 runs in the 3rd on a Myka Anderson RBI single and a Crystal Flores-Baez RBI ground out as the Eagles led 10-1. Central Springs responded with 4 runs in the 3rd, as Eagle Grove countered with 6 runs in the 4th off a Myka Anderson RBI single, a Crystal Flores-Baez 2-run RBI double, a Holly Anderson RBI double, a Lily Locke sac fly and a Chloe Schultz RBI single as the Eagles wrapped up a 16-5 victory in 4 innings.

Johanna Flores-Baez picked up the win in the circle, pitching 4 innings and allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 2. Myka Anderson had the top day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and 4 RBI, as Ellie Lenning went 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Friday, when they host the North Iowa Bison at Greenwood Park in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 6 PM.
