Eagle Grove softball shuts out West Hancock in conference home opener, 10-0

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 2-2, as West Hancock entered with a record of 1-0.

Following Tuesday’s loss to Forest City, the Eagles wasted little time in getting back on track, as a Holly Anderson RBI triple started things, then followed by a Mya Morgan 2-run home run. The Eagles then followed with a Lily Locke steal of home and a Lola Kreitlow score on a wild pitch to put the Eagles up 5-0 after 1. Eagle Grove added onto their lead in the 2nd off a Holly Anderson solo home run and a run scoring on a wild pitch to take an 8-0 lead. The Eagles then added a run in the 3rd, and another run in the 4th to cap a 10-0, 4-inning victory.

Mya Morgan picked up the win in the circle, pitching a 4-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Morgan helped her own cause, going 2-for-2 with a home run, double and 2 RBI, while Holly Anderson went 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and 2 RBI.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Belmond-Klemme to take on the Broncos in Top of Iowa West action, with first pitch at 6 PM.
