Webster City baseball no-hits Eagle Grove in 5 innings, 10-0

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles baseball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as the two programs faced one another in non-conference action at Webster City High School.

Webster City got scoring started early with a Matt Tesdahl RBI groundout in the first to take a 1-0 lead, as the Lynx built on to their lead in the 2nd with a 2-run RBI single from Braylon Dyvig, a Syrus Willard sac fly and a Carter Mickelson RBI single to put Webster City up 5-0. The Lynx added a run on a sac fly in the 3rd, before adding 2 runs in the 4th off back-to-back bases-loaded walks to take an 8-0 lead. Webster City put the finishing touches on things with 2 runs in the 5th off an RBI groundout and a wild pitch to give the Lynx a 10-0, 5-inning victory.

Carter Mickelson would pitch the complete game, throwing a 5-inning no-hitter with 7 strikeouts and allowing just 1 baserunner. Jaxon Griffith went 2-for-4 with a triple, as Braylon Dyvig was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and Mickelson helped his own cause going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Gavin Pedersen was the losing pitcher of record, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing 8 runs on 9 hits, striking out 1 and walking 4.

Webster City baseball returns to action on Thursday, as they host the Ballard Bombers in non-conference action with first pitch at 7 PM. Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Forest City to take on the Indians in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
