Eagle Grove softball falls short to (1A) #7 St. Edmond, 4-2

FORT DODGE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team opened their 2026 season on Tuesday evening, as they made the short trek to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in non-conference action at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.

Eagle Grove started scoring early, as a Mya Morgan RBI double scored Myka Anderson and put the Eagles ahead 1-0 after the top of the first. St. Edmond would respond in the bottom of the 2nd with a run off a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1, as the Gaels took the lead in the 3rd on a Rhianna Myers RBI single to go ahead 2-1. St. Edmond would put 2 more runs across in the 4th to go up 4-1, but Eagle Grove would get a run in the 6th off a Holly Anderson RBI double to make the score 4-2. However, the Eagles offense was unable to narrow the gap further in the 7th in the 4-2 defeat.

Mya Morgan pitched the complete game, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 9. Morgan also went 2-for-3 with an RBI double at the plate, as Holly Anderson went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Nevada Cubs in non-conference action at Greenwood Park, with first pitch at 6 PM.
