CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Eagle Grove Eagles golf teams returned to action on Wednesday morning, as CGD hosted their Class 2A Sectional Tournament at Clarmond Country Club. The Cowboys and Eagles were joined by Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Pocahontas Area and Sioux Central.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 4th in the tournament with a team score of 348 (+60), 3 strokes back of third-place and district-qualifiers Estherville-Lincoln Central. Sophomore Teddy Yackle secured a top 10 finish, placing 10th with an 84 (+12), as fellow sophomore Jacob Ruba placed 13th and shot an 86 (+14). Junior Adam Hodson placed 20th and shot an 88 (+16), while senior Tristen Kakacek rounded out scoring by placing 23rd and shooting a 90 (+18). Other scorers for the Cowboys saw Spencer Schefel shoot a 94 (+22) and Crew Garza shot a 101 (+29).
Eagle Grove would place 7th in the tournament with a team score of 377 (+89), as their top placer was freshman Ryker Ache, who placed 21st and shot an 88 (+16). Freshman Reese Boyd would place 29th and shoot a 95 (+23), freshman Kylar Sisson would place 32nd and shoot a 97 (+25), while sophomore Grayson Chamberlin rounded out scoring by placing 33rd and also shooting a 97 (+25). Other scorers for the Eagles saw Hayden Schafer shoot a 99 (+27) and Eli Dershied shoot a 102 (+30).
Forest City, Emmetsburg and Estherville-Lincoln Central advance to Monday’s district meet at Carroll National Golf Course, beginning at 10 AM.
