Webster City girls golf places 5th, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows places 8th at NCC Tournament

MASON CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls golf teams returned to action on Monday, as they competed in the North Central Conference Tournament at Legacy Golf Course in Mason City. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City would place 5th in the tournament with a team score of 405 (+117), as their top placer was junior Hayden McCoy, who placed 17th and shot a 100 (+28). Senior Alleyna Dawson placed 22nd and shot a 101 (+29), as junior Carli Jessen and senior Ellie Peterson, finished 23rd and 24th while both shooting a 102 (+30) to round out scoring. Other scorers for the Lynx saw Mylie Keller shoot a 104 (+32) and Kenley Koop shoot a 109 (+37).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th with a team score of 444 (+156), as their top placer was junior Blaire Askelsen, who placed 25th and shot a 103 (+31). Senior Claire Kirstein placed 28th and shot a 104 (+32), senior Tess Wibholm placed 38th and shot a 117 (+45), as junior Quinn Brooks rounded out scoring by placing 42nd and shooting a 120 (+48). Other scorers saw Jada Weets shoot a 127 (+55) and Avery Fiscus shoot a 151 (+79).

Webster City girls golf returns to action on Friday, when they compete at the Fort Dodge Invitational at Fort Dodge Country Club, beginning at 10 AM.  Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Cresco Country Club for their Class 2A Region 2B tournament, beginning at 10 AM.
