MASON CITY, Ia. AND CARROLL, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx boys golf team returned to action on Friday morning, as they competed in the Elite Showdown at Legacy Golf Course in Mason City. The Lynx were joined by ADM, Atlantic, Clear Lake, Decorah, Forest City, Humboldt, Independence, Onalaska (WI), Rosemount (MN), Spirit Lake, Washington, Waverly-Shell Rock and West Delaware.
Webster City placed 13th with a team score of 328 (+40), as the Lynx’s top placer was senior Dawson Bertran, who placed 7th and shot a 75 (+3). Junior Coyce Bertran placed 51st and shot an 83 (+11), senior Syrus Willard placed 63rd and shot an 85 (+13), as junior Dylan Schroeder placed 64th and also shot an 85 (+13). Other scorers for the Lynx saw Matt Tesdahl shoot an 88 (+16) and Joel Kasch shoot a 90 (+18).
The Lynx would bounce back on Saturday at the Kuemper Catholic Invitational on Saturday at Carroll National Golf Course, as Webster City placed 4th with a 316 (+28), just 2 strokes behind meet champion Spencer. Senior Dawson Bertran led the Lynx by shooting a 71 (-1) and finishing runner-up in the meet. Junior Coyce Bertran placed 7th and shot a 76 (+4), senior Syrus Willard placed 11th and shot a 78 (+6), as Carter Mickelson rounded out scoring by placing 56th and shooting a 91 (+19). Other scorers saw Matt Tesdahl shoot a 96 (+24) and Dylan Schroeder shoot a 101 (+29).
Webster City boys golf returns to action on Wednesday, when they host their Class 3A Sectional Meet at Briggs Woods Golf Course in Webster City, beginning at 10 AM.
