Webster City- Wednesday marked the start of National Nurses Week and the observance of National Nurses Day. Van Diest Medical Center kicked off the celebration with the annual Daisy Award ceremony held in the clinic conference room. The recipient this year is Ian Wellik, RN of the Van Diest Family Health Clinic in Fort Dodge. The Daisy Award honors nurses who demonstrate exceptional clinical skill, compassion and patient-centered care. Wellik was nominated by patients Tami and Clara Enquist, who praised his kindness, professionalism and genuine connection with patients. Van Diest Medical Center CEO Lisa Ridge presented Wellik with the Daisy Award at Wednesday’s ceremony. The other nominees this year included Amy Alcazar, Cindy Christensen,Kelli Elliott, Chris Foster, Allisa Fox,and Melissa Vaughn.
