STATE CENTER, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norse and South Hamilton Hawks girls golf teams returned to action on Wednesday morning, as they competed in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. The Norse and Hawks were joined by the hosts West Marshall, as well as Grand View Christian, Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry and Saydel.
Roland-Story would put together a dominant outing to win their 3rd-consecutive Heart of Iowa Conference title, shooting a 339 (+51), 30 strokes ahead of 2nd place Nevada. Senior Brinley Carlson won her 2nd consecutive individual title, shooting an 81 (+9), as younger sister Hadley Carlson placed runner-up, shooting an 82 (+10). Jenna Birkland placed 3rd and shot an 83 (+11), as Morgan Thompson rounded out scoring by placing 11th and shooting a 93 (+21). Other scorers for the Norse saw Keely Oberender shoot a 97 (+25) and Hannah Bates shoot a 105 (+33).
South Hamilton placed 6th in the meet with a team score of 411 (+123), as their top placer was sophomore Emma Lammers, who had a top 10 finishing by placing 8th and shooting a 90 (+18). Abby Richardson would place 25th and shoot a 102 (+30), Aryn Luppes would place 29th and shoot a 106 (+34),as Sydney Gelder would round out scoring by placing 38th and shoot a 113 (+41). Other scorers for the Hawks saw Ava Corbin and Grace Larson each shoot a 120 (+48).
Roland-Story and South Hamilton girls golf return to action on Friday, when South Hamilton hosts their 18-Hole Tournament at Jewell Golf and Country, beginning at 2 PM.
