Roland-Story boys golf places 3rd, South Hamilton places 5th at HOIAC Tournament on Tuesday

STATE CENTER, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks boys golf teams returned to action on Tuesday morning, as they competed in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Golf Tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by the hosts West Marshall, as well as Grand View Christian, Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry and Saydel.

Roland-Story placed 3rd in the meet with a team score of 316 (+28), just one stroke behind 2nd place PCM, and 6 back of champions Nevada. Senior Hayden Eslick would place 6th and shoot a 77 (+5) as the Norsemen’s top placer, as juniors Ryan Fisher and Jake Knoll each shot a 79 (+7) and placed 9th and 10th, respectively. Senior Evan Byersdorfer would round out scoring, placing 16th and shooting an 81 (+9). Other scorers for the Norsemen saw Wyatt Ramus shoot an 82 (+10) and Tucker Hawkins shoot an 84 (+12).

South Hamilton placed 5th in the tournament with a team score of 335 (+47), as their top placer was senior Luke Martensen, who finished 7th and shot a 78 (+6). Senior Brody Harris placed 21st and shot an 84 (+12), senior Sam Koehnk placed 25th and shot an 85 (+13), as sophomore Garrett Johnson rounded out scoring by shooting an 88 (+16) and placing 36th. Other scorers for the Hawks saw senior Michael Carlson shoot a 90 (+18) and junior Maddux Becker also shoot a 90 (+18).

Roland-Story and South Hamilton boys golf return to action on Thursday, as South Hamilton hosts their annual 18-hole tournament at Jewell Golf and Country, beginning at 2 PM.
