Roland-Story and Webster City girls golf compete in Kuemper Invite

CARROLL, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norse and Webster City Lynx girls golf teams returned to action on Friday, as they competed in the Kuemper Catholic Ladies Invite at Carroll National Golf Course. The Norse and Lynx were joined by the host Knights, as well as Alta-Aurelia, Atlantic, Carroll, Clarinda, Denison-Schleswig, Harlan Community and Spencer.

Roland-Story would placed 2nd in the tournament, tying with Spencer with a score of 355 (+67), 1 stroke back behind meet champion Kuemper Catholic. Brinley Carlson was the meet medalist, as she won with a 73 (+1), as younger sister Hadley Carlson was 10th by shooting a 90 (+18). Sophomore Morgan Thompson was 15th with a 95 (+23), while junior Jenna Birkland rounded out scoring by placing 18th and shooting a 97 (+25).

Webster City placed 8th with a team score of 419 (+131), as the top scorer was junior Hayden McCoy, who placed 23rd and shot a 101 (+29), while senior Ellie Peterson placed 28th and shot a 104 (+32). Junior Carli Jessen placed 32nd with a 107 (+35), as sophomore Abigail Heckert placed 33rd and shot a 107 (+35).

Roland-Story girls golf returns to action on Monday, as they travel to State Center to take on West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Lincoln Valley Golf Course, beginning at 4 PM. Webster City girls golf returns to action on Monday, as they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions and Humboldt at Veterans Memorial Golf Club, beginning at 4:30 PM.
