South Hamilton boys golf wins, Roland-Story places 3rd in Saydel Quad

DES MOINES, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen boys golf teams returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as they made the trip to the Des Moines metro to take on the Saydel Eagles and Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Woodland Hills Golf Course.

In a tightly-contested meet, South Hamilton emerged as the meet champion with a team score of 152 (+8). Senior Michael Carlson was the top scorer for the Hawks, placing 2nd and shooting a 35 (-1), as senior Brody Harris placed 5th and shot a 38 (+2). Senior Sam Koehnk would place 8th and shoot a 39 (+3), as senior Luke Martensen placed 0th and shot a 40 (+4) to round out scoring. Other scores for the Hawks saw Garrett Johnson shoot a 40 (+4) and junior Maddux Becker shoot a 49 (+13).

Roland-Story placed 3rd in the meet with a 155 (+11), just one stroke behind 2nd-place Greene County. The Norsemen boasted the meet medalist in junior Ryan Fisher, who won with a 34 (-2). Senior Hayden Eslick placed 6th with a 38 (+2), as junior Jake Knoll placed 13th and shot a 41 (+5), while junior Wyatt Ramus placed 15th and shot a 42 (+6) to round out scoring. Other scores for the Norsemen saw Hayden Janssen shoot a 42 (+6), as Evan Byersdorfer shot a 44 (+8).

Roland-Story boys golf returns to action on Monday, when they compete in BCLUW Comet Invite at the Conrad Golf Course, beginning at 1 PM. South Hamilton boys golf returns to action on Tuesday, when they compete in the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center, beginning at 9 AM.
