STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norse and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls golf teams returned to action on Monday, as Roland-Story hosted their 18-Hole Tournament at River Bend Golf Course. The Norse and Cowgirls were joined by Grand View Christian, Greene County, North Polk and West Marshall.
Roland-Story claimed the tournament title with a team score of 344 (+56), winning by over 60 strokes. Senior Brinley Carlson was the meet medalist by shooting a 79 (+7), as sophomore Morgan Thompson placed runner-up and shot an 85 (+13). Sophomore Hadley Carlson was 3rd by a shooting an 89 (+17), while junior Jenna Birkland rounded out scoring by placing 4th and shooting a 91 (+19). Other scorers for the Norse saw Keely Oberender shoot a 106 (+34), while Hannah Bates shot a 116 (+44).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th in the meet with a team score of 528 (+240), as the top scorer was senior Claire Kirstein, who finished 23rd and shot a 120 (+48). Senior Tess Wibholm shot a 128 (+56) and tied for 26th, sophomore Jada Weets shot a 130 (+58) and placed 28th, as junior Quinn Brooks shot a 150 (+78) and placed 33rd. Sophomore Avery Fiscus would place 34th by shooting a 164 (+92).
Roland-Story girls golf returns to action on Friday, when they compete at the Kuemper Catholic Invite at Carroll National Golf Club, beginning at 9 AM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Garner to take on GHV in non-conference action beginning at 4:15 PM.
