OSAGE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx boys tennis team returned to action on Monday afternoon, as they made the trip to far northern Iowa to take on the Osage Green Devils at Osage High School. Webster City and Osage both entered the contest with 0-3 records.
Webster City opened the day with a win in position 1 by Nathan Wardell by a 2-0 sweep (6-0, 6-1), as the Lynx then won in position 3 courtesy of a Blake Arjes 2-0 sweep (6-2, 6-0). Max Anderson then collected the Lynx’s final singles win by a 2-0 sweep (6-1, 6-4) as the match then moved to doubles with the Lynx ahead 3-2.
The team of Nathan Wardell and Sage Bock won their doubles match in a 2-0 sweep (6-1, 6-2), before Blake Arjes and Max Anderson won their doubles match by a 2-0 sweep (6-4, 6-0) to cap the Lynx’s 7-2 victory.
Webster City boys tennis returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the Nevada Cubs in North Central Conference action, beginning at 4:30 PM.
