Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Eagle Grove girls track compete in Cowgirl Relays in Clarion

CLARION, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls and Eagle Grove Eagles girls track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday, as the Cowgirls hosted the annual Cowgirl Relays at CGD Middle School. CGD and Eagle Grove were joined by Belmond-Klemme, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, North Iowa, Pocahontas Area, St. Edmond, West Fork and West Hancock.

CGD would place 5th in Class A with a total of 45 points, as the Cowgirls top placer was Adelynn Howell, who tied for 2nd in the high jump by clearing 4′ 8″. The Cowgirls would place 3rd in the sprint medley in a time of 2:06.08 with the team of Schaffer-Morris-Tijull-Egland, as the 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 2:00.61 with the team of Schaffer-Howell-Tijull-Egland. The CGD 4×400 would place 3rd in a time of 4:48.42 with the team of Morris-Tijull-Hoesing-Egland.

Eagle Grove would place 6th in Class with a total of 34.5 points, as their top placer was Makenna Surber in the 800m run, placing 3rd in a time of 2:55.90, as Myka Anderson would place 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:21.13. Eagle Grove’s 4×100 would place 3rd in a time of 56.99 with the team of Morgan-Hoop-Alaniz-Anderson, as the Eagles distance medley placed 4th in a time of 5:22.01 with the team of Nunez-Eittreim-Surber-Hoop.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action on Tuesday, as they compete in the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Girls Invitational, beginning at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove girls track returns to action on Thursday, as they compete at the Emily Markert CoEd Relays in Manson, beginning at 4:30 PM.
