Webster City experiences a warm and dry March.

March in Webster City was a month of above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. Weather records at the KQWC Radio Hill weather reporting station showed the month with a n average high of 52 degrees and the average low temperature at 25 degrees.  The normal high for March is 44 degrees. There were two record high temperatures set for the month. A high of 89 degrees set on the afternoon of March 21st. The previous record was 86 degrees set March 21st,1938. The 89-degree reading is the warmest high temperature for March in Webster City in the history of record keeping since 1897. The second record high temperature was set this past Monday,March 30th with 86 degrees. The previous record high temperature was 84 degrees set 58 years ago on March 30,1968. There were 6 days in March that the temperature in Webster City was at or above 70 degrees for daytime highs. The lowest temperature for the month was 2 above zero set on the morning of March 17th.

As for precipitation, March proved to be dry with 1.56 inches of rainfall or melted precipitation. March also brought an inch of snow to Webster City. There was a blizzard warning issued March 15th and 16th that caused the closing of Interstate 35 from Ames north to the Iowa Minnesota line disrupting travel and brief power outages. The average snowfall amount in March for the Webster City is 5.6 inches.

The National Weather Service outlook for April in Iowa indicates the month will bring above normal rainfall especially in the southeastern part of Iowa into sections of Illinois and Missouri. There will also be above normal temperatures for the new month. Last April in Webster City, the average high temperature was at 60 degrees with the average low at 34 degrees.
