NEVADA, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles boys track and field team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to Story County to compete in the Nevada Early Bird meet at Nevada High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Cubs, as well as Ballard, Belmond-Klemme, Carroll, Central Springs, Des Moines Christian, Forest City, Gilbert, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, Lake Mills, Marshalltown, Mason City, South Hardin and West Marshall.
Eagle Grove placed 7th in Class B with 215 points (utilizing the true scoring system), as their top placer was the 4×800 relay, which placed 3rd in a time of 9:35.37 with the team of Waldo Martinez-Gonzalez-Reyes-Castro, as the 4×200 placed 4th in a time of 1:41.10 with the team of Nielsen-Thacker-Sisson-Spencer. Gavin Pedersen would place 4th in the discus with a throw of 126′ 11″, as Carter Nielsen placed 4th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.66. Freshman Eli Derscheid placed 7th in the 100m dash in a time of 12.20 seconds.
