Webster City boys soccer shuts out Charles City in season-opener, 3-0

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team opened their 2026 season on Monday evening, as they hosted the Charles City Comets in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field in Webster City.

It would be a lightning fast start for the Lynx, as they scored in the 1st minute of the game off a goal from Geovany Morales Lopez, which struck the top of the crossbar before hitting the ground just inside the goal to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead. Webster City would hold that 1-0 lead through much of the 1st half, before a Lynx throw in was misjudged by Charles City goalkeeper Sullivan Gerleman and the ball rolled in for a goal to give the Lynx a 2-0 halftime lead. The Lynx struck once more early in the 3rd as Abisai Ramirez Carmona scored on a penalty kick in the 48th minute, to put the Lynx ahead 3-0, as the Lynx would cruise to that final.

Webster City boys soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field, with kickoff at 5:30 PM.
