Roland-Story track and field competes in Bondurant-Farrar early bird on Monday

BONDURANT, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen boys and girls track and field teams returned to action on Monday night, as they competed at their first outdoor meet of the year at Bondurant-Farrar High School in Bondurant. The Norsemen were joined by the host Bluejays, as well as Boone, Des Moines North, Perry, Saydel and Winterset.

Monday’s meet would be cut short due to severe weather, as Roland-Story’s boys placed 2nd with 72 points on the evening in 12 events. Tristen Crabbs grabbed a meet title, winning the 100m dash in a time of 11.27 seconds, as the Norsemen 4×200 won in a time of 1:31.13 with the team of Kilstofte-Thoreson-Triggs-Crabbs, while the Norsemen shuttle hurdle picked up a victory in a time of 1:06.37 with the team of Barber-Johnson-B. Long-C. Long. Cael Paulson would place 2nd in the high jump by clearing 5′ 6″, as Cody Long placed 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 21′ 3.5″. The Norsemen’s sprint medley would place 3rd in a time of 1:40.92 with the team of Kilstofte-Crank-Billerbeck-Miskell.

Roland-Story’s girls would place 3rd in the meet with 68 points scored on the evening, as the Norse’s shuttle hurdle team won in a time of 1:09.18 with the team of Helgeson-Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer, as Taylor Rechkemmer placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.06, with Selah Helgeson placing 3rd in a time of 17.40 seconds. In the relays, the Norse’s sprint medley placed 2nd in a time of 1:58.97 with the team of Helgeson-Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer, while distance medley placed 2nd in a time of 4:38.80 with the team of Reitano-Rechkemmer-Lucas-Lande.
