Murillo-Delfin’s 800m win highlights North Iowa Indoor boys meet for Webster City and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows

CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field teams returned to action on Friday, as they competed in the annual North Iowa Indoor Championships at the Clear Lake Athletics and Wellness Center. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Emmetsburg, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Nevada, North Iowa, Northwood-Kensett, Osage, Riceville, Saint Ansgar and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City boys would place 7th in the meet with 38 points, as they crowned a meet champion in the 800m run, as sophomore Daniel Murillo-Delfin won in a time of 2:06.83. The Lynx would place 2nd in the 4×400 in a time of 3:37.43 with the team of Callahan-Stroner-Murillo Delfin-Hansen, as Justin Callahan wowed in the 400m dash, placing 3rd in a hotly-contested race with a time of 50.81 seconds. Jaxon Griffith would pick up a bronze finish in the 60m hurdles, placing 3rd in a time of 8.53 seconds. Beau Nohrenberg would place 5th in the shot put with a personal best throw of 46′ even, as the Lynx 4×800 placed 7th in a time of 9:30.76 with the team of Draeger-Thumma-Wardell-Barner. The shuttle hurdle would place 8th with a time of 39.66 with the team of Hrnicek-Punkham-Christensen-Wynkoop.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 14th with 5 points, as the Cowboys top placer was junior Logan Torsell, who finished 6th in the 800m run in a time of 2:14.87, as Huxley Lingenfelter would place 7th in the shot put with a throw of 44′ 5″.

Webster City boys track and field on Tuesday for the inaugural Brad Heitland Boys Indoor meet in Algona, beginning at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday for the Ballard Co-Ed Early Bird meet in Huxley, beginning at 4:30 PM.
