Webster City and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track and field competes in North Iowa Indoor Championships on Thursday

CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track and field teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they competed in the annual North Iowa Indoor Championships at the Clear Lake Athletics and Wellness Center. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Emmetsburg, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Nevada, North Iowa, Northwood-Kensett, Osage, Riceville, Saint Ansgar and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City’s girls would tie for 5th with Forest City, scoring 36 points a piece. The Lynx crowned a meet champion in junior Izzy Grossoehme, who won the girls 400m dash in a time of 59.67 seconds. Grossoehme would placed 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 27.39 seconds, while also leading off the 4×200 that placed 3rd in a time of 1:53.23 with the team of Grossoehme-Wright-Weinschenk-Hansen. Webster City also saw a pair of top 5 placers in the girls shot put, as junior Amanda Lahr placed 4th with a throw of 35′ 6″, while Jakaela Cherry was 5th with a throw of 34′ 2.5″. Tessa Hansen would place 7th in the girls 60m hurdles in a time of 10.53 seconds, while Briley VanDeer placed 10th in a time of 10.78 seconds.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 17th with 4 points on Thursday, those points coming from a 5th place finish in the high jump from junior Adelynn Howell, who cleared 4′ 10″ on Thursday. Aleena Schaffer placed 18th in the 60m hurdles in a time of 11.08 seconds, as the 4×800 relay placed 11th in a time of 13:23.03 with the team of Perez-Hoesing-Bobadilla-Routh.
