Roland-Story basketball sweeps home HOIAC doubleheader against West Marshall

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School.

Roland-Story’s girls would be stuck on automatic from deep, nailing 13, three-pointers on Tuesday for a 63-27 win. Riley Johnson led all scorers with 21 points, as Lucy Schmidt added 15 points and Brinley Carlson had 12 points.

The boys game followed as the first quarter was tight, with the Norsemen up 18-14 before the Roland-Story offense opened up in the 2nd quarter, putting up 21 points in the frame to take a 39-23 halftime lead. Roland-Story continued to dominate on both ends in the 2nd half to come away with a 72-38 victory.

Luke Thoreson led the Norsemen with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals, while Eli Van Hove recorded a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Colin Willis added 10 points as well.

Roland-Story basketball returns to action on Friday, when they host the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School in Story City, with tipoff at 6 PM.
