Eagle Grove basketball drops home TOIW doubleheader with North Union

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School.

North Union’s defense would shine in the girls game, leading 13-4 after the first quarter, extending that lead to 28-11 by halftime. The Eagle Grove offense could not find consistent footing in the 2nd half as the Eagles would fall 54-26.

Taytum Edwards led the Eagles with 7 points, while Myka Anderson finished with 6 points and 2 assists. Shallie Walders led North Union with 17 points.

The boys game saw North Union jump on Eagle Grove early, leading 23-10 after the first quarter, adding onto that lead in the 2nd quarter to make the score 43-26 at halftime. Eagle Grove gained some traction in the 3rd quarter to cut the score to 55-41, but North Union would close things out in the 4th for a 71-53 victory.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Thursday, as they host the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School, with tipoff at 6:15 PM.
