Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball splits NCC doubleheader at Iowa Falls-Alden

IOWA FALLS, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip east into Hardin County to take on the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action at Iowa Falls-Alden High School.

Despite early offense from the Cowgirls, Iowa Falls-Alden led 44-7 at the halftime break and coasted to a 60-7 win on Friday night. Audrey Egland led the Cowgirls with 4 points, as Elody England led Iowa Falls-Alden with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

The boys game followed as the Cowboys got off to a slow start, trailing by as much as 9 before ending the first quarter down 15-9. CGD then exploded for 24 points in the 2nd quarter, taking a double-digit lead at halftime at 33-21. A back-and-forth 3rd quarter, gave way to CGD pulling away in the 4th for a 70-42 victory.

Chaz Lane led the Cowboys with 26 points and 11 rebounds, as Jacob Ruba added 13 points off the bench. Huxley Lingenfelter contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds as well, as Karsen Kalous led Iowa Falls with 17 points.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Algona to take on the Bulldogs in North Central Conference action, with tipoff at 6 PM.
