(2A) #2 Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling sweeps Doc Carr Duals in New Hampton

NEW HAMPTON, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the trek into northeast Iowa to compete in the annual Doc Carr Duals at New Hampton High School. The Cowboys were joined by the host Chickasaws, along with AP-GC, Denver, Charles City and Denver.

After an opening round bye, CGD won the opening match over Waterloo West by a score of 60-15, picking up wins by fall from Cole Wibholm (106), Estuardo Lopez (113), Angel Cortes Hinojosa (126), Ryan Hartwig (138), Colin Sesker (157), Ryland Morgan (165) and JT Kelso (285), with forfeit wins from Paxton Redenius (120), Adrian Phetxoumphone (132) and Dawson Beyer (150).

Round 3 saw the Cowboys rout AP-GC by a score of 62-15, as CGD picked up wins by fall from Estuardo Lopez (113), Paxton Redenius (120), Adrian Phetxoumphone (132), Ryan Hartwig (138), Dawson Beyer (150), Colin Sesker (157), Ryland Morgan (165), Easton Beyer (175) and JT Kelso (285). Cole Wibholm would pick up a win by tech fall at 106 as well.

The Cowboys then took care of the hosts in New Hampton/Turkey Valley by a score of 56-20, as CGD picked up wins by fall from Estuardo Lopez (113), Dawson Beyer (150), Colin Sesker (157), Ryland Morgan (165), Easton Beyer (175) and JT Kelso (285). CGD would pickup 2 tech fall victories from Cole Wibholm (106) and Adrian Phetxoumphone (132) and a major decision from Paxton Redenius (113).

The final round saw CGD down the Denver Cyclones by a score of 52-22. The Cowboys picked up wins by fall from Adrian Phetxoumphone (132), Dawson Beyer (150), Colin Sesker (157) and JT Kelso (285), with a tech fall from Cole Wibholm (106). Other victories were picked up by major decisions from Estuardo Lopez (113) and Paxton Redenius (120) and Reed Campbell (144), with forfeit wins from Ryland Morgan (175) and Easton Beyer (190).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Iowa Falls-Alden to compete in an NCC tri-dual with the Cadets and the Algona Bulldogs, beginning at 6 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
