ADEL, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the drive into Dallas County to compete in the annual ADM Tiger Invitational at ADM High School. The Norsemen were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Ames, Clarke, Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, Dallas Center-Grimes, Iowa Falls-Alden, Nevada, Red Oak, Southeast Polk and Waukee Northwest.
It would be a very successful meet for the Norsemen on Saturday, as they crowned 3 meet champions and placed 2nd in the tournament with 184 points. The first meet title would belong to Brady Long, who won the 132 pound bracket by pinning Ames’s Owen Reed in the title match. Caiden Latch then won the 138 pound title, winning an 8-4 decision over ADM’s Grayson Sutter in the title match. Chance Georgius then won the 190 pound bracket, winning a 10-2 major decision over ADM’s Rhett Boston in the final. Konnor Blume netted the lone runner-up finish at 113, losing by tech fall to Red Oak’s Izic Zarate.
Colin Grundlingh would place 3rd at 175, winning his 3rd place match over Dallas Center-Grimes’s Max Mullen, while Roman Stotts won his 3rd place match at 215, pinning ADM’s Jackson Hasty in just 1:48. Noah Healy would place 4th at 120, losing his 3rd place match by fall to ADM’s Kaden Smith, while Myles Handsaker placed 4th at 157, losing his 3rd place match to Waukee Northwest’s Cooper Weinberger by fall.
Other placers for the Norsemen saw Kamden Wilkinson place 5th at 106, Kael Ammerman placed 6th at 126 and Greysun Lein place 6th at 150.
Roland-Story wrestling returns to action on Friday, when they compete in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Championships at Saydel High School in Des Moines, beginning at 5 PM.
