The Iowa State Patrol on Wednesday released further details on the Tuesday afternoon accident in southern Wright County at the intersections of Highway 69 and Wright County Road C-70 north of Blairsburg. Reportedly a south bound 2002 model Kenworth tractor semi-trailer operated by Noah King of Auburn,Iowa was struck by a westbound 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 Classic Ram pickup operated by Benjamin Gilderoy of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The impact sent the semi operated by King to slide over to the gravel and rolled over onto the passenger side in the southbound ditch. The vehicle then caught fire burning the cab of the semi. Meanwhile the rear end of the Gilderoy pickup came around and struck the rear tires of the King semi, causing it to roll over and slide onto the north bound shoulder of Highway 69. The Gilderoy pickup was engulfed in flames and burned as well. Gilderoy was transported to Mercy One in Des Moines by Life Flight for treatment of serious injuries. King was taken to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion for treatment on minor injuries. Both vehicles were totaled in last Tuesday’s accident. Investigating patrol trooper Nicholas Adams charged Benjamin Gilderoy with Failure to Obey the Stop Sign and Yielding the Right of Way.
