The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Thursday, as they made the trip into Mitchell County to take on the Osage Green Devils in non-conference action at Osage High School. Webster City entered at 11-15, while Osage entered at 12-11.
Following a scoreless first, Webster City got on the board in the 2nd off a Kaleb Hansen sac fly to take a 1-0 lead. This was followed by a 4-run third inning, with an Aidan Hrnicek 2-run RBI single and RBI doubles from Alex Staley and Gordon Bargfrede, as the Lynx scored 4 more runs in the 4th off RBI singles from Gavin Griffith, Alex Staley and Kaleb Hansen to take a 9-0 lead after 4 innings. Osage drove in a run in the 5th to make the score 9-1, but Webster City put up another 4-spot off an Alex Staley bases-loaded walk, a Gordon Bargfrede RBI groundout, an error and a Brady Asklund RBI hit-by-pitch to cap a 13-1, 6-inning victory.
Alex Staley would go 2-for-3 with a double, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, as Aiden Hrincek went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Gavin Griffith pitched all 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 8.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Fort Dodge in non-conference action with first pitch at 7 PM on AM 1570 KZWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
