UNI Athletics announced on Tuesday that Eagle Grove native Marv Reiland would be inducted into their 2025 Hall of Fame Class, which will take place on August 29th in Cedar Falls.
Reiland wrestled for Eagle Grove High School from 1963 to 1966 and followed his career for the Eagles by wrestling for the UNI Panthers from 1966 to 1970, winning 2 North Central Conference titles, a 3-time All-American, finishing runner-up at 130 pounds in the 1969 NCAA Division II Championships, before placing 6th at the Division I Championships as well.
Following his collegiate wrestling career, Reiland returned to Eagle Grove and coached his alma mater from 1970 to 1987, winning 3 traditional state championships in 1974, 1986 and 1987, the first state dual championship in 1987, and finished runner-up in the traditional tournament in 1973 and 1982. Reiland finished his coaching career with a dual record of 129-62-5 and was named the 1982 Class 2A Coach of the Year by the IWCOA and was inducted into the IHSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1989.
Reiland received additional Hall of Fame honors from IHSAA Officials Hall of Fame (2010), the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (2000), the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame (2012) and the Glen Brand Hall of Fame (2020).
The formal induction for Reiland and the rest of the 2025 Class will be Friday, August 29th at 5:30 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Falls.
