The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Thursday, as they hosted the Pocahontas Area Indians in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 2-11, while Pocahontas Area entered at 12-5.
Thursday’s 1st inning would be scoreless, as Webster City would get on the board with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, only to rebutted by 2 Pocahontas runs in the top of the 3rd to make it 2-2. The Lynx would get a run in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 3-2, but Webster City’s offense would take off in the 5th for 4 runs to go up 7-2. Following a Pocahontas run in the 6th, Webster City added 4 more runs in the 6th and clinched an 11-3 win.
It would be a career-game for junior Morgan Hackbarth, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 6 RBI, as Jaylyn Bahrenfuss went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Briley Van Deer was the winning pitcher in relief, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 5 in 3.2 innings.
Webster City softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in North Central Conference action with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM.
