South Hamilton softball downs Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in low-scoring affair, 2-0

The South Hamilton Hawks and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball teams returned to action on Thursday, as the two teams would square off with one another at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 4-14, while CGD entered at 0-13.

Thursday’s game would be a pitchers duel between South Hamilton’s Jill Hesse and CGD’s Tess Wibholm, as it would be the Hawks that had the quicker draw, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th off a Jill Hesse RBI single and an Emma Ammerman RBI single to put South Hamilton up 2-0. CGD was sat down in the top of 7th as the Hawks claimed a 2-0 victory.

South Hamilton would record 4 hits from Sydnee Flaugh, Jill Hesse, Lillie Ammerman and Emma Ammerman, as Jill Hesse pitched the complete game shutout, allowing 4 hits and striking out 10.

CGD would get hits from Tess Wibholm, Blaire Askelsen, Ella Angstrom and Madison Ingebritson, as Tess Wibholm picked up the loss, allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 10.

South Hamilton softball returns to action on Saturday, when they take on Benton Community and ADM at the Roland-Story Kiwanis Tournament at the Hennessy Diamonds in Roland. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Monday when they travel to Iowa Falls-Alden to take on the Cadets in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
