The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Thursday, when they traveled to Dayton to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action. South Hamilton entered at 2-9, while Southeast Valley entered at 5-8.
South Hamilton started Thursday’s game with a pair of runs off a Landon Sogard RBI single and an Andrew Jensen RBI single to put the Hawks up 2-0. Southeast Valley would then respond with a run in the 2nd, 2 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 4th to take a 6-2 lead. South Hamilton responded with 2 runs in the 5th off a Brody Harris RBI single and a Connor Deppe RBI single to make the score 6-4. Southeast Valley would then erase doubt, putting up 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take an 11-4 lead, before clinching an 11-5 win.
Landon Sogard would go 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Andrew Jensen went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Braden Young picked up the loss, allowing 8 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits and struck out 11 in 5 innings.
South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Story City to take on Roland-Story in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field, with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
