Wright County boys soccer ties with Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 2-2

The Wright County United boys soccer team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in North Central Conference action at Belmond-Klemme High School in Belmond. The Broncos entered at 0-1 after a season-opening loss to Ballard.

It was Garner-Hayfield-Ventura that got off to the fast start, putting their first goal on the board in 7th minute courtesy of sophomore AJ Fuentes to take a 1-0 lead. Wright County would answer back in the 24th minute off a header from junior Byron Tux Coc to even the score at 1-1 going into halftime.

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura would strike first in the 2nd half with a goal in the 60th minute from senior John Fuentes to take a 2-1 lead, but a penalty in the 75th minute allowed Wright County junior Anderson Diaz to knot things up off a penalty kick as the match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Freshman Cristian Lopez would tally the assist off Byron Tux Coc’s goal, while senior goalkeeper Jose Alfaro tallied 11 saves on the night.

Wright County soccer returns to action on Friday, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at Belmond-Klemme High School.
