KQWC Radio learned that a familiar face will return to the bench for Webster City basketball on Friday morning, as Marty McKinney was named the new girls basketball coach for the Lynx, pending board approval.
McKinney, a 1993 graduate of Webster City, led the Lynx boys basketball program from 2008 to 2022, earning a 190-113 record and 3 North Central Conference titles. McKinney also filled in for current boys head coach Brett Ratcliffe for a handful of games during the 2023-24 season as well.
The hire of McKinney makes him the 3rd head coach for the program since 2021.
