(2A) #3 Webster City boys soccer uses big 2nd half to rout Iowa Falls-Alden, 8-1

The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team returned action on Monday night, as they made the short trip east on Highway 20 to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at Cadet Field. The Lynx entered at #3 in Class 2A with an 11-o record, while IF-A entered at 2-9.

Webster City would get off on the right foot, as Israel Torres punched in a goal in the 11th minute to put the Lynx up 1-0, before Conner Peck added a goal in the 29th minute to make the score 2-0. Iowa Falls-Alden would get on the board with a penalty kick from Josh Lozano to bring the halftime score to 2-1.

Despite the sluggish first half, the Lynx flipped the switch in the 2nd half, as Eddy Fuentes would pick up a hat trick in just 3 minutes of game time, with a goal in the 50th minute, and 2 goals in the 52nd minute as Webster City surged to a 5-1 lead. Eduardo Perez would add 2 second half goals, as well as David Villelas entering the scoring as the Lynx sailed to an 8-1 win.

Webster City returns to action on Thursday, when they host Humboldt for a chance to clinch an outright conference title at Lynx Field.
