Eagle Grove, Webster City boys track compete at Algona

The Eagle Grove Eagles and Webster City Lynx boys track teams returned to action on Thursday, as they competed in the annual Hackbarth Relays at Algona High School. Joining the Lynx and Eagles were the host Bulldogs, as well as Bishop Garrigan, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Humboldt and West Hancock.

Webster City would send only a partial team as Jaxon Cherry placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 49′ 11.75″, before placing 3rd in the discus with a throw of 127′ 6″. Webster City’s 4×100 also competed, placing 6th in a time of 45.30.

Eagle Grove’s top placer would be senior Drake Canavan, who finished 3rd in the 400m dash in a time of 55.79. Eagle Grove would place 4th in the 4×200 in a time of 1:42.35 with the team of Heaton-Miller-Spencer-Willard. Landon Mrla would place 6th in the long jump with a mark of 17′ 10.5″.

Eagle Grove would place 7th with 16 points, while Webster City was 18th with 13 points. The Lynx return to action on Friday, when they compete in the Poky Relays at Pocahontas. Eagle Grove returns to action on Tuesday when they compete at Manson-Northwest Webster.
