Roland-Story boys golf wins home dual, Jefferson Tournament over the weekend

The Roland-Story Norsemen boys golf teams returned to action on Friday and Saturday, as Friday’s dual meet was played at River Bend Golf Course in Story City. The Norsemen would host Ogden as a part of the meet with their senior day festivities.

Friday would belong to junior Braylen Loots, who shot a low score of 36, to finish the day with an even score. Jack Birkland shot a 41 (+5), Hayden Eslick shot a 42 (+6), and Dylan Gustafson shot a 45 (+9) to round out the team score of 164 (+20). Ogden’s top score came from freshman Jace Benbow, who shot a 44 (+8).

The Norsemen followed this up with a trip to Jefferson on Saturday for the Greene County tournament, as the Norsemen were joined by the Rams, as well as Coon Rapids-Bayard, Grand View Christian, Ogden, South Central Calhoun and Southeast Valley.

Roland-Story emerged as the team champions with a score of 333 (+45). Braylen Loots tied for 2nd in the individual race, shooting an 81 (+9), as Nels Hanson shot an 82 (+10) and placed 4th. Jack Birkland placed 6th with a score of 84 (+12), as Dylan Gustafson rounded out the scoring by tying for 9th with an 86 (+14). Jack Hansen of Greene County was the meet’s individual champion with a score of 78 (+6).

Roland-Story returns to action on Monday, when they host North Polk for a dual meet at River Bend Golf Course in Story City.
