Webster City boys golf competes at Woodward-Granger tournament

The Webster City Lynx boys golf team returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as they made the trip into northern Dallas County to compete in the Woodward-Granger Tournament at Woodward Golf and Country Club. The Lynx were joined by the host Hawks as well as ADM, Ballard, Madrid, North Polk and West Marshall.

Webster City would place 5th in a tightly contested field with a team score of 171 (+27). Trevyn Lyons had the top score for the Lynx, shooting a 42 (+6), while the rest of the scoring came from Braden Doering, Braylon Plain and Cael Nixon, with all 3 golfers shooting 43’s (+7). Dawson Bertran would shoot a 44 (+8) and Luke Firsching shot a 47 (+11) to round out the varsity lineup.

ADM and North Polk would claim a share of the tournament title with scores of 163, as the difference between 1st and 5th was 8 strokes.

Webster City returns to action on Friday, when they compete in quad meet at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.
