Eagle Grove wrestling competes in Charger Invitational in Guthrie Center

The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team made the trek south into Guthrie County on Saturday morning, to compete in the annual Charger Invitational at ACGC High School in Guthrie Center. The Eagles were joined by the host Chargers, as well as AHSTW, Central Springs, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Earlham, East Sac County, Greene County, Manson-Northwest Webster, Nevada, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Panorama, Pleasantville, Riverside (Oakland), Saint Ansgar, Southeast Polk JV, Southeast Valley, Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas, Wayne (Corydon), West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.

The Eagles would have 2 placers on Saturday, the first in Mack Morgan at 120 lbs, Morgan would go 4-3 on the day, losing the 5th-Place match to Saint Ansgar’s Christian Michels in a 10-6 decision. Jayden Krietlow would place 6th at 175 lbs, also going 4-3 on the day and losing via pin to Greene County’s Degan Miller in the 5th-Place match as well.

Other notable results saw Connor Christopher go 3-2 on the day at 144, Cooper Thacker went 3-2 at 132, and Jesus Baez went 3-2 at 285. Eagle Grove would place 18th with 57 points as a team.

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in a quad dual against South Hamilton, Alta-Aurelia and South Central Calhoun.
