Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling competes in Keith Vry Invitational on Saturday

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team made the trip east on Saturday morning, to compete in the Keith Vry Invitational at Aplington-Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg. The Cowboys were joined by the hosts in AP-GC, as well as AGWSR, Benton Community, Charles City, Crestwood, Dike-New Hartford, Don Bosco, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and OABCIG.

The Cowboys saw a trio of third place finishers on Saturday, as freshman Charlie Campbell placed 3rd at 157 lbs, winning his 3rd place match via fall over Charles City’s Carter Burkhardt. Junior Caleb Seaba placed 3rd at 165 lbs, winning his 3rd place match with a 9-4 decision over Crestwood’s Tyler Pisney, before Ashtin Willms placed 3rd at 215 lbs with a pin in his 3rd place match over AP-GC’s Colton Harken.

Lucas Cayler and Ryan Hartwig would place 4th at 120 lbs and 126 lbs, each losing their 3rd place matches, as did Jaxon Engstrom at 144 lbs. Mason Allen placed 5th, winning his 5th place match via medical forfeit over Don Bosco’s Landon Fernandez, while Uli Frias placed 6th at 175 lbs.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Thursday, when they host a North Central Conference tri-dual with Algona and Iowa Falls-Alden.
