Ortiz Hernandez stepping down as Webster City city manager.

The search is about to begin to find a new city manager for Webster City. The announcement was made by mayor John Hawkins on Wednesday that current city manager Daniel Ortiz Hernandez will be leaving the community after serving in his position since 2021. Ortiz Hernandez has accepted the assistant city manager job in Ennis,Texas. This was the second time that Ortiz Hernandez served Webster City as its city manager. He previously served in 2016 through 2018 before moving to Wasco, California to serve as public works director. In a notice to city colleagues this week Ortiz Hernandez stated that he submitted to the city council a 90 day notice of resignation as city manager in Webster City. He said the decision did not come easy but he had chosen to pursue a new opportunity. Ortiz Hernandez said he always enjoyed Webster City and will cherish the womderful memories and friendships.
During his tenure as city manager, Ortiz Hernandez requested the hiring of Birdiana Bishop as assistant city manager.Bishop is a colleague of Ortiz Hernandez. There are no indications that Bishop is leaving her position. Ortiz Hernandez’s last day as city manager will be sometime around or after the holiday season.
