After an investigation by the Fort Dodge Police and Fire Departments this week, a 13-year-old male was arrested Wednesday on a charge of Reckless Use of Fire, a serious misdemeanor. The charge was filed as a result of the fire last Sunday morning at the townhome complex at 332 Avenue M West. All residents of the complex were safely evacuated as a result of the fire with no injuries. Upon investigation into the cause of the Sunday fire,it appeared to be suspicious in nature. The State Fire Marshall’s Office assisted Fort Dodge authorities in the investigation. As for the juvenile arrested,he was transported to the Central Iowa Detention Center in Eldora with the case being referred to the Webster County Attorney’s Office and Juvenile Court Services for further action. Investigators are continuing to follow up on this incident.
