Roland-Story, South Hamilton cross country compete in HOIC meet in Jefferson

The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams made the western trip into Greene County on Monday, to compete in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Greene County High School in Jefferson. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by the host Rams, as well as Nevada, PCM, Perry, Saydel and West Marshall.

Roland-Story’s girls claimed the conference title as a team on Monday night, winning with a low score of 33 points. Junior Claire Truesdell was the race runner-up in a time of 20:21.28, while Lauryn Kilstofte was 4th in a time of 20:39.80. Elizabeth Ihle was 7th in 21:08.09, Makenna Carlson was 8th in 21:24:30, while Brooke Thompson was 12th in 21:30.47 to round out the scoring for the Norsemen.

South Hamilton’s girls placed 6th in the meet with 154 points, as Cici Herrick was 24th in a time of 23:29.62, while McKenna Miller was 29th in 24:19.75. Brooklyn Doolittle was 35th in 24:51.17, Isabel Swenson placed 38th in 25:01.36 and Anna Holm was 46th in 25:59.81 to round out the Hawks varsity scoring.

On the boys side, Roland-Story placed 3rd as a team with 95 points, as Evan Voga was the top placer for the Norsemen at 7th in a time of 17:52.76, while Corbin Lucchesi was 8th in 18:02.87. Lucas Wuebker was 27th in 19:12.24, Henry Dahlsten was 28th in 19:13.93, while Luccas Hart was 35th in 19:50.06 to finish up the varsity scoring.

South Hamilton’s boys placed 6th with 130 points, as Peter Coburn was the top placer at 17th in 18:44.08, as Laken Zanker was 22nd in 18:56.69. Bobby Tapper was 33rd in 19:46.33, Hayden Hill was 37th in 20:03.03, while Jagger Ferrie wrapped up scoring in 42nd in 20:26.23.
