Roland-Story volleyball splits tri with Gilbert and (4A) #13 North Polk

The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip down to Alleman to take on the Gilbert Tigers and North Polk Comets in triangular action at North Polk High School. The Norsemen entered at 7-2 and a conference mark of 2-0.

The Norsemen opened up with Gilbert, and took care of business against their former HOIC rivals, winning 2-0 in sets of 25-17 and 25-19. Grace Dowling led the way for the Norsemen with 7 kills, while Kamryn Lande had 6 kills and freshman Brookelyn Jondle had 5 kills and 3 aces. Miley Geise and Ali Charlson had a combined 23 assists.

In the 2nd match, the Norsemen faced a much stiffer challenge in North Polk, who entered ranked 13th in Class 4A. Roland-Story would fall 2-1 in sets of 20-25, 25-21 and 8-15, but played the Comets neck-and-neck throughout. Kam Lande led the way with 7 kills, while Brookelyn Jondle added 5 more kills and another ace.

The Jewell Market Player of the Game was Brookelyn Jondle, as she tallied 10 kills and 4 aces in the two matches between Gilbert and North Polk. Roland-Story returns to action on Saturday, where they’ll compete in the Forest City Tournament in Forest City.
